Learning Outcome #5 + #6

Learning outcomes five and six take a look into the final revision process to ensure that my writing is ready for grading. Like I mentioned, my main revision is very focused on forming my essay, and working ideas into place to make sure everything flows. Local revision at the end of my writing process is smoothing everything over. It normally involves lots of reading out loud to make sure everything makes sense, as well as running through individual sentences with a keen eye to make sure grammatical errors aren’t present. Another piece of the writing process is being able to make your own pieces of opinion stronger by using quotes from other like minded writers. With every quote comes a citation and a works cited page in MLA format is necessary for academic writing. The development of my MLA formatting began a long time ago, and has only become easier as I develop my skills to write. My chosen work sample includes quotes, and therefore citations from David Foster Wallace, and Ross Anderson, adding to the MLA citation bank of authors I have acquired over years of writing. I used these quotes in my chosen work sample (Paper #2) to strengthen my own thoughts, as well as let new opinions on the same topic reside with the reader. These quotes were crucial in other ways as well, coming together in the same paragraph to compare the thoughts of both authors, inside of my own paper. Giving credit for others work is necessary in an academic setting and my MLA citations are an example of that.
